Cannabis essential oil is one of the most unusual oils in the essential oil range, simply because of the plant from which it is derived. Although cannabis and hemp have been used for thousands of years as naturally growing herbs, their reputation as a drug in many parts of the world has complicated the relationship between users of cannabis and hemp, and authorities in certain places. However, cannabis essential oil is a beneficial essential oil and is widely considered as one of the most effective oils for the alleviation of certain illnesses and conditions. It is extracted by steam distillation from the flowers and upper leaves of cannabis plants, which are in the Cannabis genus.
Industrial hemp is produced by strains of Cannabis sativa that have been cultivated to produce minimal levels of THC and are instead artificially selected and bred to grow taller and sturdier. This is done to enable the plant to be used effectively in the production of hemp oil, wax, resin, hemp seed food, animal feed, fuel, cloth, rope, and more. Industrial hemp is exclusively made from Cannabis sativa.
High quality CBD oil is made from the flowers of the hemp plant, not the seeds. To get the most CBD and other whole plant cannabinoids out of the plant, the hemp must be harvested while the flowers are still very small, requiring a large quantity of plant material. This is why CBD products are typically more expensive than hemp seed oil and medical marijuana, but contain a greater number of beneficial compounds and have more far reaching positive health benefits.
You may have heard some people say that marijuana and hemp are exactly the same, while others swear they are different. The debate of hemp vs marijuana is fueled by the confusion and misinformation that surround the cannabis plant.
On Apr. 16, 2014, Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker signed AB 726, known as Lydia’s Law, which states that “any physician may provide an individual with a hard copy of a letter or other official documentation stating that the individual possesses cannabidiol to treat a seizure disorder if the cannabidiol is in a form without a psychoactive effect.” A release from the Governor’s office characterizes the law as “clearing the way for a new treatment for children suffering from seizure disorders, pending FDA approval.”
I live in TN as well…. what do you mean “legal for certain groups”? I was under the impression it was legal across the state. Is it not? There is a place in Woodbury, TN (not sure where you live) that has a state grant to grow & produce different types of hemp & cbd oils. Ypu may want to check it out. I plan to visit there this week myself as I suffer from migraines almost daily. Here’s the site, I put a space in it after the .com so it would post. halfhillfarm.com /2017/05/05/hemp-extract-cbd-now-available-in-woodbury/

Have any of you actually noticed that you keep asking where to get it and from whom? Who ever wrote this had no intention of giving information other than the difference between Hemp and CBD. They likely don’t know where to get the real stuff and if they do, they are not telling you. Maybe because they don’t want to, or may not legally be able to do so. So if you see a hundred questions about where to get it and none have been answered, your inquiry is not likely going to be answered either. You are all wasting your time. Take time to stop and read others comments.
Both compounds have important health benefits: THC has antispasmodic, analgesic, anti-tremor, anti-inflammatory, appetite stimulating and anti-emetic properties, and CBD has anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, antipsychotic, antioxidant, neuroprotective and immunomodulatory effects.
THC works on the endocannabinoid system in a different way from CBD, so although it is a similar compound, it does not have these benefits.  However, research has shown that THC can have a positive influence over pain relief, PTSD, poor appetite and more.
Nonetheless, it is impossible to get “high” by smoking or ingesting CBD-high hemp (that has only traces of THC), as it is also impossible to get high by consuming CBD oil products (that contain virtually no THC).
Marijuana can produce acute psychotic episodes at high doses, and several studies have linked marijuana use to increased risk for chronic psychosis in individuals with specific genetic risk factors. Research suggests that these effects are mediated by THC, and it has been suggested that CBD may mitigate these effects.xxxi There have been a few small-scale clinical trials in which patients with psychotic symptoms were treated with CBD, including case reports of patients with schizophrenia that reported conflicting results; a small case study in patients with Parkinson’s disease with psychosis, which reported positive results; and one small randomized clinical trial reporting clinical improvement in patients with schizophrenia treated with CBD.xxxii Large randomized clinical trials would be needed to fully evaluate the therapeutic potential of CBD for patients with schizophrenia and other forms of psychosis.

We are all aware of the promising therapeutic benefits that can be derived from using CBD oil, but it also may interact poorly with other prescription and over-the-counter drug and medications. Since side effects are unavoidable when taking CBD extracted from both hemp and marijuana, its interaction with drugs that are taken simultaneously may result in adverse effects or serious complications. Hemp CBD oil can inhibit the liver’s ability in processing certain medications, which may result in an overall increase in processing times. As the liver experiences difficulty in metabolizing, drugs stay longer in the body. In some cases, the interaction could cause serious side effects or even overdose. With this in mind, you should consult your physician before starting on any hemp CBD oil therapy and may be required to alter your CBD dosage.
Cannabidiol can be taken into the body in multiple different ways, including by inhalation of cannabis smoke or vapor, as an aerosol spray into the cheek, and by mouth. It may be supplied as an oil containing only CBD as the active ingredient (no added THC or terpenes), a full-plant CBD-dominant hemp extract oil, capsules, dried cannabis, or as a prescription liquid solution.[1][3]
The Herbal Renewals CBD Spray comes in three great flavors: Vanilla, Peppermint, and Unflavored (for those who prefer the natural taste of CBD with its earthy, hempy undertones). And like all Herbal Renewals CBD products, this soothing CBD Herbal Spray is made in the U.S. from organic, non-GMO industrial hemp.
To access cannabis oil, a solvent extraction process is required, which returns roughly 3-5 grams of oil per ounce of flower product used. Using grain or isopropyl alcohol as a solvent, you can strain the result of the mixture, leaving cannabis oil behind. It is a lengthy process, and in countries where cannabis is legal, there are many places to access high-quality cannabis oil.
With the correct serving size, CBD has been shown to significantly help soothe stress, pain, and inflammation (and potentially many other problems too). An appropriately high serving size of CBD may give you the desired effects you seek, but most people will not reap its benefits if too little is used.
On Mar. 20, 2017, Gov. Bryant approved SB 2610, which amended the state’s CBD law to “clarify use in research of seizures and other medical conditions.” The bill allows other pharmacies to dispense CBD in addition to the University of Mississippi Medical Center, with federal and state regulatory approval.

Studies using animal models of anxiety and involving healthy volunteers clearly suggest an anxiolytic-like effect of CBD. Cannabidiol has shown to reduce anxiety in patients with social anxiety disorder and researchers suggest that it may also be effective for panic disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, social anxiety disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder. “CBD is kind of a tricky drug because it’s not very well absorbed orally,” Welty explained. “Less than 20 percent of the drug is absorbed orally. If it isn’t made in the right way, you may not be getting much drug into your systemic circulation.”

Hemp-producing cannabis has tall, fibrous stalks that are very strong and have very few flowering buds. On the on the other hand, marijuana strains are short, bushy, and have high amounts of THC. In fact, industrial hemp and medical marijuana are so distinctively different that most lay people wouldn’t be able to tell that they belong to the same genus of plants if they encountered them in the wild!
If you’re just diving into the world of CBD, we recommend a starting serving size of two to three milligrams. From there, you can work your way up to 100 or even 200 milligrams, after you’ve taken the time to gradually observe how CBD affects your body and mind. Remember, you cannot overdose on CBD, and there are no reported side effects from taking high concentrations. Always refer to the dosage guidelines on the product packaging if you are unsure.
Studies into CBD’s effect on neurological disorders suggest that it may help to treat many of the disorders that are linked to epilepsy, such as neurodegeneration, neuronal injury, and psychiatric diseases.
Plus if you take CBD make sure you get the legal E.U minimum of THC in the oil… Very very very important… CBD without THC can have negative effects that are canceled by that little drop of THC and vice versa the same… Don’t go 100% THC or 100% CBD plus make sure your oil extracts come from a good source and not laced with heavy metals.
Although the research on the medicinal use of cannabis is strong, several studies indicate that the recreational use of cannabis can have persistent adverse effects on mental health. According to a 2013 report published in Frontiers in Psychiatry, depending on how often someone uses, the age of onset, the potency of the cannabis that is used and someone’s individual sensitivity, the recreational use of cannabis may cause permanent psychological disorders. Most recreational users will never be faced with such persistent mental illness, but in some individuals cannabis use leads to undesirable effects, including cognitive impairment, anxiety, paranoia and increased risks of developing chronic psychosis or drug addiction. I posted a reply and it didn’t post so they don’t want anyone telling you where to go. On the SHOP link in small print beneath the “NON CANNABIS, COMING SOON, Blah Blah” it says that you can get cannabis products from here. When you go there, it sends you to another link to a website called Leafy. c o m. That site sells actual Marijuana. www.leafly.com/dispensary-info/chronic-therapy/ menu. You can’t use this link. It has spaces in it so it doesn’t look like a web site. You will have to copy it and paste it and take out the spaces.

Scientific and clinical research—much of it sponsored by the US government—underscores CBD’s potential as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including arthritis, diabetes, alcoholism, MS, chronic pain, schizophrenia, PTSD, depression, antibiotic-resistant infections, epilepsy, and other neurological disorders. CBD has demonstrable neuroprotective and neurogenic effects, and its anti-cancer properties are currently being investigated at several academic research centers in the United States and elsewhere. Further evidence suggests that CBD is safe even at high doses.

As with any substance, there can be side effects (even with water). You should consult with your doctor before taking any new substance in your diet. CBD is probably the best-known cannabinoid in the cannabis plant. The medical community has also published dozens of studies measuring the effectiveness of CBD and the potential side effects. There are only a few known side effects of CBD, and most of them are minor. Some of the known side effects are:
On May 30, 2014, Iowa Governor Terry Branstad signed SF 2360 into law, saying “This bill received tremendous support and truly shows the power of people talking to their legislators and to their governor about important issues to them, to their families and to their children.”
Synthetic CB1/CB2 receptor agonists are associated with a reduction of infarct size and hypothermia in animal models. CB1 receptor antagonists, however, have also shown a reduction of infarct size. The conflicting results prove the complexity of the ECS; others hypothesize that the CB receptor inhibitors may be targeting nonCB receptors but still producing neuroprotective effects. Studies are also investigating modulation of CB1/CB2 receptor activation with promising results on reducing infarct size with stimulation of CB2 and inhibition of CB1 [12]. CB may also play a beneficial role in post-stroke rehabilitation with studies reporting CB1 and CB2 receptor expression in neural stem and progenitor cells [12].
The report suggests a number of illnesses and ailments in which CBD could provide relief including nausea, diabetic complications, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, pain, cancer, psychosis, Crohn’s disease and cardiovascular.
Clinical cases are now being described where SC users are presenting with seizures or convulsions. In the United States, there have been reports of seizure activity after smoking various SCB and these were likely JWH-018, JWH-081, JWH-250, and AM-2201 (Lapoint et al., 2011; Schneir & Baumbacher, 2012; Simmons, Cookman, Kang, & Skinner, 2011). In Europe, McQuade et al. (2013) reported a 20-year-old male who had smoked “Black Mamba” and quickly went into tonic–clonic convulsions. Urine analysis revealed metabolites of AM-2201.
Dating back to 2900 BC Marijuana has been known to treat pain. Recent discoveries in the medical field and documented in medical journals around the world have concluded CBD as being a key component to relieving pain. Your body contains a system called the endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system is vitally important as it helps regulate sleep, appetite, immune system and pain. The body creates endocannabinoids, and these endocannabinoids bind themselves to cannabinoids receptors that are neurotransmitters in your nervous system. Fundamentally, they help carry messages around your body via the nervous system. With this being said, research has shown Cannabidiol may reduce chronic pain by influencing endocannabinoid receptor action. CBD may have the power to reduce inflammation that directly interacts with neurotransmitters.
